ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the effect of Kinesio Taping with lattice shapes on pregnancy-related low back pain (PLBP). Methods From March, 2017 to April, 2018, 56 patients with PLBP were randomly divided into the control group (n = 28) and experimental group (n = 28). Both groups received the core stability training, while the experimental group accepted Kinesio Taping with lattice shapes additionally. They were assessed with Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Roland-Morris Dysfunction Questionnaire (RMDQ), range of lumbar activity and torso angle before, three days and two weeks after treatment. Results The range of lumbar activity improved significantly in both groups (t > 6.327, P < 0.01) three days after treatment, while the scores of VAS and RMDQ, and the torso angle improved significantly in the experimental group (t > 4.862, P < 0.001). The scores of VAS and RMDQ, the range of lumbar activity, and the torso angle improved significantly in both groups two weeks after treatment (P < 0.001), and improved more in the experimental group than in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Kinesio Taping with lattice shapes combined with core stability training can further reduce the lower back pain and improve the function for the PLBP patients.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo perform quantitative observation on the color change of local skin after cupping, so as to explore objective and quantitative methods for skin response of cupping.

METHODSSeven health subjects were included. By quantitative meridian cupping instrument, cupping methods with four types of pressures were respectively performed on subjects for 5 min.The spectrum of cupping mark before and after the cupping was collected by hyperspectral camera, and the color change was recorded by digital camera.

RESULTSBefore the cupping, the differences of back skin areas were not significant (>0.05), and its average spectrum indicated two peaks at 540-550 nm and 580-590 nm. After cupping with different pressures, spectrum changes of skin were observed. For -0.02 MPa, the most significant reduction was observed at 550 nm (-12.1%,<0.05); for -0.03 MPa, the most significant reduction was observed at 540 nm (-22.1%,<0.05); for -0.04 MPa, the most significant reduction was observed at 610 nm (-26.7%,<0.05); for -0.05 MPa, the most significant reduction was observed at several spectrums (all<0.05).

CONCLUSIONSAfter cupping with different negative pressures, significant changes of spectrum are observed on skin; for different pressures, the spectrums of the most significant changes are different; the hyperspectral camera could be applied to perform quantitative observation on the color change of local skin.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to explore the value of animal energy metabolism monitoring system (AEMMS) to evaluate the energy metabolism of acute alcohol liver injury in rat with the treatment of acupuncture.Tirty rats were randomly divided into the control group, the model group and the EA group. The model group and the EA group were gavaged with 50% ethanol for the establishment of the animal model of acute alcoholic liver injury.EA was given by needling Zusanli (ST-36) 30 min after intragastic administration every day in the EA group. The treatment of acupuncture continued 3 days.In addition, the RER,heat, feeding and drinking were continuously recorded for 96 h in each group at the same time by AEMMS.As a result, the RER,feeding and drinking indices significantly decreased in rats with ALI with an increase in the heat index. There was an up-going tendency of the RER,feeding and drinking indices, and a declined tendency of the heat index in the model rats after EA treatment. It was concluded that AEMMS presented a practical value in the study of the energy metabolism of rats with ALI with the treatment of acupuncture.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo use infrared thermography to take cat cerebral cortical temperature in order to visualize the temperature of its entire cerebral cortex as an image.

METHODSAfter performing craniotomy for exposure of cerebral hemispheres in 52 cats, their cortical temperatures were displayed and analyzed by computerized infrared thermovision.

RESULTSThe temperature distribution of the cerebral cortex was uneven, with a maximum difference of 2.3 degrees C among different cortical areas. The temperature in the cortical anterior-inferior area (including the Ant. Ectosylvian, the lower section of Mid. Ectosylvian and the Ant. Sylvian) was higher compared to the temperature in the posterior-super-parts (Post. Suprasylvian, Mid. Suprasylvian, Post. Lateral and Ant. Lateral). Locations with higher or lower temperatures showed little change within three days after craniotomy, and the cortical temperature held steady.

CONCLUSIONThe use of cortical infrared thermo-images for display of cat cortical temperature is possible and has many advantages over traditional methods. This new neuroimaging method has a practical value in neurological research.
